Columbus Crew Update 2023 MLS Roster Ahead of New Season

MLS Club Makes Several Roster Moves

The Columbus Crew have announced updates to their roster ahead of the 2023 Major League Soccer season. The club has signed five new players, while also making several departures.

New Signings

Columbus has added goalkeeper Patrick Penttinen from HIFK Helsinki, defender Josh Williams from Louisville City FC, and midfielders Aidan Morris from FC Cincinnati, and Yaw Yeboah from Columbus Crew 2.

The Crew have also acquired forward Jojea Kwizera from the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Departures

The Crew have parted ways with several players, including goalkeeper Eloy Room, defenders Vito Wormgoor and Harrison Afful, and midfielders Artur and Marlon Hairston.

Forward Miguel Berry has also been traded to the Toronto FC.

Outlook for 2023

The Columbus Crew are hoping to improve on their 13th-place finish in the Eastern Conference in 2022.

The Crew have a number of talented players, including midfielders Lucas Zelarayán and Darlington Nagbe, and forward Gyasi Zardes.

The Crew will begin their 2023 season on February 25th against the Vancouver Whitecaps.
