Impaired Driver Suspect Arrested, One Driver Critically Injured

Milton Crash Closed Highway for Hours

Milton, Ontario - A stretch of Highway 401 in Milton has reopened following a serious multi-vehicle collision on Thursday night. The westbound lanes were closed for several hours, causing major traffic delays.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the crash occurred at approximately 10:36 pm on August 14, 2023. It involved two vehicles, including a transport truck and a passenger car.

The OPP has confirmed that the driver of the passenger car, a 29-year-old male from Kitchener, was seriously injured and transported to a local hospital.

The driver of the transport truck, a 54-year-old female from Guelph, has been arrested and charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm. She is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

The OPP is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. Witnesses are being interviewed, and dashcam footage is being reviewed.

The highway has since reopened, but motorists are still advised to expect some residual delays.

The OPP reminds drivers to never drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Impaired driving is a serious crime that puts everyone on the road at risk.
