PSG Lose First-Team Player to Injury Ahead of Champions League Opener Against Girona

Presnel Kimpembe Set to Miss Match Due to Hamstring Strain

Key Defender Ruled Out of Crucial Fixture

Paris Saint-Germain have been dealt a significant blow ahead of their opening Champions League match against Girona. Presnel Kimpembe, a key defender for the French giants, has been ruled out of the game due to a hamstring strain.

Kimpembe sustained the injury during training last week and has been undergoing treatment in a bid to be fit for the match. However, the club's medical staff have confirmed that he will not be available for selection.

The 27-year-old has been a mainstay in the PSG team this season, featuring in all seven of their Ligue 1 matches. He has also played a key role in the club's Champions League campaign, starting both legs of their victory over Juventus in the group stage.

His absence will be a major blow to manager Christophe Galtier, who is already without Sergio Ramos and Marquinhos due to injury. The French champions will now have to rely on Nordi Mukiele and Danilo Pereira to fill the void left by Kimpembe.

PSG will be looking to make a strong start to their Champions League campaign, and they will be keen to avoid a repeat of last season's disappointing performance in the competition. They were knocked out in the round of 16 by Real Madrid, and they will be hoping to go much further this time around.

The match against Girona is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 6, at the Parc des Princes. PSG will be hoping to secure a victory in front of their home fans and lay down a marker for the rest of the competition.
