Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders announced Monday that he is running for re-election in 2024. Sanders, who has served 16 years in the House of Representatives and 12 in the Senate, is seeking a third term in the upper chamber.

In a statement on his website, Sanders said he is running for re-election to continue fighting for the working class and to address the challenges facing the country, including income inequality, climate change, and healthcare access.

"We must continue to build a movement to transform our economy to one that works for all of us and not just the one percent," Sanders said. "We must continue to fight for affordable healthcare, education, and housing. We must continue to fight for environmental justice and economic justice."
